Cardigan boxer Billy Myers achieved an incredible victory on Friday night despite a broken right arm.

The injury came in the final round of his 65kg senior bout against Macauley Casey of Cardiff Apollo ABC.

This was part of a home show at Ashley Brace Academy in Abertysswg.

Myers was off to a strong start, gradually overpowering Casey with his strength and skilful shots.

His opponent was visibly impacted.

But with just around 90 seconds left in the final round, Myers landed a right hand on Casey's shoulder or upper arm, resulting in a severe injury.

The referee gave Myers a standing eight count after the incident, leaving him with only his left arm for the remainder of the match.

Despite the injury, Myers persevered.

He managed to keep Casey at bay with a flurry of left jabs, resulting in a unanimous points decision in his favour.

An X-ray at Glangwili Hospital later confirmed he had broken his right arm.

Cardigan ABC head coach, Guy Croft, praised Myers, saying: "Billy jabbed like mad over that final minute.

"He’s a warrior – my respect for him grows with every fight – and a great asset to Cardigan ABC."

Unfortunately, the injury will sideline Myers for the next six to eight weeks.

However, he remains hopeful of a full recovery in time for the Welsh championships in April.
