Community spirit has been blossoming across Ceredigion ahead of the 2024 JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion.

The event, which takes place from August 30 to September 1, is more than just a motorsport event; it is a celebration of community, education, and sustainability.

In preparation for the rally weekend, organisers have been visiting schools in Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire, launching competitions for schools to win up to £1,000 for environmental projects.

Children are also invited to design one of the rally cars for this year’s event.

The focus of these school visits has been on safety, sustainability, and community involvement.

Councillor Hazel Evans, Carmarthenshire County Council's cabinet member for regeneration, leisure, culture and tourism, and Councillor Clive Davies, cabinet member of Ceredigion County Council with responsibility for economy and regeneration, said in a joint statement: "In Rali Ceredigion 2024, we see a fantastic opportunity to unite our communities and showcase the very best of Mid and West Wales.

"By engaging with local schools and businesses, Rali Ceredigion is not only fostering a spirit of excitement and collaboration but also emphasising our commitment to sustainability and boosting our economy."

As an official FIA European Rally Championship event, Rali Ceredigion will attract top rally teams and drivers from around the world, bringing a wider international audience to the area.

Businesses have also been encouraged to get involved with the event.

Suggestions include creating a special rally-themed menu for visiting fans, putting up rally-themed window displays, and promoting the rally on their social media channels.

These initiatives not only showcase community spirit but also offer visitors a unique experience, encouraging them to explore and support the businesses.

One spectator of the Rali Ceredigion 2023 said: "Watching the rally last year was an unforgettable experience.

"The beauty of Mid Wales is unparalleled, and the local people and businesses were incredibly welcoming.

"I can't wait to return this year and experience it all over again."
