The first of the Poppit 5k series recently took place.

It was organised by Cardigan Running Club and more than 60 participants took part in each event.

The race was won by Rees Llewelyn of Pembrokeshire Harriers who is set to represent Great Britain in the upcoming GB and Ireland mountain running championships this September.

The first woman to cross the finish line was Cai Batchelor of Cardigan Badminton Club.

Carmarthen Harriers' Alex Ladd was the first to cross the finish line in the Juniors race, with Alys Evans from TROTs being the first girl to cross the finish line.

The next Poppit 5k race has been scheduled for August 13.

Meanwhile, parkrun Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve revelled in its first anniversary on July 20.

The event has attracted more than 4,000 unique finishers while also luring in tourists from across the country and overseas.

Among these athletes, Cilgerran resident John Horsman holds the record with 48 finishes to his name.

A group of Cardigan runners also participated in the recent Carningli Killer.

This fell race took place in Newport, Pembrokeshire on July 18, coordinated by 'Caz the Hat'.
