A major rally will be returning to Ceredigion later this year.

The FIA European Rally Championship will make a comeback to Wales after 28 years, via the JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion.

The rally, with a refreshed route across Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Powys’, will take place from August 30 to September 1, 2024.

Some of the top international competitors are expected to participate in this expanded and demanding race, providing both participants and spectators a one-of-a-kind experience.

Spectators are welcome to join in the exhilaration and enjoy community celebrations.

Key viewing spots and fan zones will be available along the route, and further details on ideal audience locations and ticketing info are provided on Rali Ceredigion’s official website.

This year’s Rali Ceredigion seeks to provide more than just motorsport entertainment.

It's also an avenue for promoting tourism and sustainability, using the rally route to highlight the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Mid and West Wales, warming visitors into appreciating the region.

The organisers have also taken steps to guarantee the event’s environmental friendliness, introducing initiatives like low-carbon race fuel and one of the biggest carbon offsetting programmes for rally events.

This programme assures that the event offsets and absorbs more carbon than it produces through regional and national environmental campaigns.

Rali Ceredigion event director, Charlie Jukes, said: "We are thrilled to bring Rali Ceredigion to these new and exciting stages and, through the extended coverage of the event, create global awareness of the region and drive tourism opportunities.

"This event is a celebration of not just motorsport but also the vibrant communities and breathtaking landscapes of Wales.

"We encourage everyone to join us and experience the thrill and beauty of this event."

Councillors Darren Price, Bryan Davies and, James Gibson-Watt, leaders of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Powys county councils, said: “We are excited to welcome a large international audience to mid and West Wales for an event that highlights our natural assets. "

With the combined backing of Ceredigion County Council and the UK Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Rali Ceredigion will offer a detailed talk at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.

As part of the 'Rali Engage' initiative, Rali Ceredigion is visiting schools and introducing a competition for schools to win up to £1,000 to spend on environmental projects, as well as a design competition for kids.
