MANY of the weekend’s anticipated sporting fixtures were called off due to frozen pitches.
Very few games were actually playable as frost and ice-covered rugby and football pitches across most of Wales.
This included Newcastle Emlyn RFC’s Dol Wiber ground which was deemed unplayable due to being frozen, cancelling the eagerly anticipated WRU Championship – West local derby with Crymych.
The WRU Championship was almost completely frozen out this weekend, with all of the East fixtures postponed and only two of the six West fixtures going ahead – Brecon beating Dunvant away 16-10 and Ammanford claiming a 31-27 victory away at Tata Steel.
