Newcastle Emlyn’s Development Team were beaten 2-1 by Teigrod Tywi on Friday, 21 April in a closely contested match at home in Crymych.
Emlyn fielded a young side, with 12 out of 15 players under 18 - and most of them under 16 - but they started the match very positively.
The home forwards linked up well, resulting in a cracking goal by Izzy during the first quarter, but Teigrod Tywi soon fought back to equalise.
The second half saw both teams attacking with purpose, with the visitors breaking into Emlyn's circle and scoring a quick goal to make it 2-1.
Newcastle Emlyn Emlyn battled hard in the final quarter of the game, with every single player giving their all for the club.
There were many periods of excellent passing, dribbling and tackling, but unfortunately for the hosts they were unable to find an equaliser.
The game ended 2-1 to Teigrod Tywi, but Newcastle Emlyn's players are to be congratulated on yet another impressive performance.
The young players have developed well in such a short space of time, and their dedication, drive, and passion for the sport were evident throughout.
Siwan, Emlyn's young goalkeeper, deserves a special mention for her fearless display in goal, and for making a number of crucial saves.
Although the result did not go their way on the day, Emlyn's young squad showed great potential and real promise for the future.
