IOAN Croft’s tremendous run in the EUBC European Boxing Championships came to an end in Yerevan, Armenia, today.
The Crymych southpaw had been among eight GB boxers – including twin brother Garan – to guarantee themselves bronze medals following quarter-final victories on Friday.
The 20-year-old Cardigan ABC welterweight ended up on the receiving end of a unanimous points decision in his semi-final against Lasha Guruli today.
But Ioan will leave Armenia with a bronze medal as well as the invaluable experience of performing on his biggest stage to date along with the happy knowledge that he is in the form of his life with the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham now just two months away.
Meanwhile, Garan will be attempting to book his place in the light-middleweight final when he takes on Germany’s Majored Schachidov at 4.45pm this afternoon.
