Cardigan U/16's - 22 Pembroke Dock U/16's - 17
Cardigan entertained Pembroke Dock at the King George field on Sunday afternoon. the match was a hard fought encounter with both sides giving their all.
Cardigan started well with a number of chances being missed, then came the breakthrough, an individual break from Martin Roberts scoring the first try and Ben Rodgers converting. while the Dock gained the advantage late into the first half with a couple of well worked tries, one after tireless work through their big pack of forwards. both tries converted. ben Rodgers then kicked a penalty to close the first half 14 - 10 to Pembroke Dock.
the second half swung to and fro with chances missed by both teams. Cardigan scored two tries late into the game either side of a Dock penalty, one from Ifan Wilson and the other by Jac Emanuel both converted by Ben. The end of the game could not come soon enough for Cardigan as Pembroke Dock kept pounding the home side's try line, but the defence stood firm. the final whistle blew and this was Cardigan's first win after two narrow defeats against Lampeter (friendly) and Narberth (league). The Cardigan team are well coached by Marc Phillips and Emyr Rees and the players are showing their hard work during training on the pitch. Training is held on Thursday nights and new players are always welcome.
