Crymych must still be kicking themselves after a string of missed opportunities proved costly against Division One West leaders Glynneath at Abernant Park.

Despite the wasted try opportunities it was a fine all-round team performance by the north Pembrokeshire villagers and must instil confidence for a number of forthcoming tough assignments.

The home side led through a penalty by centre Jack O’Reilly at the interval but Crymych kicker and fullback Adam Phillips, who enjoyed a field day the previous Saturday, had an off day with the boot.

O’Reilly doubled his side’s advantage by landing a second penalty after the break and Glynneath held out for the win.

Promoted Newcastle Emlyn went down 20-3 against second in the table Trebanos but it was defeat with honour for the Teifisiders who battled hard throughout.

The Swansea side led 12-3 after the opening 40 minutes, their points coming from outside half Shaun Hamer who landed four penalties while his opposite number Rhydian Harries was successful with one kick for the visitors.

The young Trebanos side were on top during the second period when they notched a well-worked try by winger Andrew Penhole a dropped goal by outside centre Christian Jones and a fourth penalty by Hamer.
