HOPES were high at Newcastle Emlyn Football Club after a 4-1 win over league newcomers Llanelli Town in the first qualifying round of the Welsh Cup.
But the Reds have since made an inauspicious start in the Welsh League Division Three with two reversals in the space of three days and on the evidence of their opening games it could be more toil for them in the months ahead.
On Wednesday the Teifisiders went down 5-1 away against Cwmamman United and on Saturday were beaten 4-1 in Gwent by Newport Civil Service.
Emlyn are at home tomorrow when Cwmamman United are the visitors to Parc Emlyn and host Lliswerry on Saturday.
