Fast-improving Cardigan of Division 4 West caused an upset when scalping Haverfordwest in round one of the Pembrokeshire Cup at King George V Playing Field.
The visitors were without skipper and influential flanker Richard Brazell and wingers John Whitacombe and Darren Salmon through injury, but the side currently in mid table in Division 3 West could not complain about the result.
For the second game in succession the Cardis were without outside half Steffan Williams, but recently recruited Dafydd Evans did a first-rate job in the No. 10 jersey, and he looks a fine acquisition.
The forwards turned in a workmanlike performance, holding their own in rucks and mauls while behind scrum-half Dylan Rees had another big game.
Fly half Evans and attacking fullback Huw Davies notched tries for the homesters with Evans landing a penalty and Colin Davies converting one of the touchdowns.
For the Blues left-winger Robert Scale went in for a try and centre Mark Jones landed a penalty.
Cardigan return to Division 4 West action on Saturday with a visit to mid table Neyland
