The organisers of the 152nd Cardigan County Agricultural Show held on Wednesday of last week will be well pleased with an event that would appear to have broken all previous records in terms of size, entries and overall attendance.
Long regarded as the rural showcase for the Cardigan Bay and Teifi Valley area, and still its biggest event each year, the annual show put on at Briscwm fields by the 250 strong Society achieved all expectations of being a spectacular celebration of Welsh food and farming at its very best.
Taking best from over 700 horse and pony entries was the splendid cob mare, the 11-year-old bay Fronarth Model Lady from the Jones family shown with her handsome colt foal.
From over 100 beef cattle forward it was success all the way for Eddie Griffiths and his family whose two-year-old French bred Limousin bull, Villy, stood supreme and they also took the group prize. Hefyn Wilson gained a similar result in the dairy lines with his June calved Holstein fifth calver, Tregibby Julia 4.
Awarded supreme in the sheep pens was Gwynne Davies and his daughter, Caryl Haf, with their North Country Cheviot entries and given best in the dog show was boarding kennel owner Kelly Clarke with her four-year-old home-bred Boxer, Painted Solitaire.
