A unique painting by celebrated local artists Aneurin and Meirion Jones will be unveiled this week to mark the town’s 900th anniversary.
The painting - which has been commissioned by the 2010 committee - will be unveiled at the Guildhall this Thursday evening.
The special event is being televised by S4C.
2010 chairman Llwyd Edwards has had a sneak preview of the painting which he says “is absolutely fantastic.”
The evening will start at 6:45pm and include musical items, a brief talk by the historian Father Seamus Cunnane, AM Elin Jones will carry out the unveiling, an explanation of the backgound and history of the painting by the artists, odes and poems written by local poets of renown. Light refreshments will be served and there is also the opportunity of reserving one of the limited edition prints that will be made of this exceptional work of art.
The original painting will belong to to Cardigan and there are plans at the end of the 2010 celebrations to officially hand it over to the care of the town council.
