Division Four (West) Llandeilo 15 Cardigan 3 Llandeilo used their battering-ram pack to carve out a win over Cardigan as the weather was again the deciding factor since it prevented the Teifisiders playing their own brand of running rugby to its best effect.
The homesters utilised their big tight five forwards to good effect but it took them 30 minutes to open the scoring as Cardigan gave as good as they got and had some rousing play from the likes of Colin Davies, Owen Jones, Mark Hughes, Will Kerr and skipper Richard Jones. But then Llandeilo drew in the Cardigan cover at a driving maul and full back Arwel Davies utilised the space well to score an unconverted try.
Cardigan full back Kevin Evans reduced the deficit to 5-3 at the interval as he kicked a good penalty in the conditions but Llandeilo made a good start to the second period as scrum half Mark Moon sniped through for a try and fly half Emyr Davies notched a penalty.
The Cardis tried hard in the final quarter to claw their way back in but were pinned back by the kicking of Moon and Davies so that although Phil Leighton and Kevin Maddox tried hard to make an impression for Cardigan it was Llandeilo who gained revenge for a 13-3 defeat at Cardigan when the teams last met in better weather!
