THE Welsh Assembly Government has agreed to pay £1.2million towards a £1.7million overspend on the new road between Blaenannerch and Parc Aberporth.
"It is possible we may get the remaining half million at a later stage. The money is subject to conditions," Ceredigion’s finance director told members of the authority’s Cabinet this week.
Members heard early this year that the overspend arose in part because of changes in plans for the new runway at West Wales Airport, which had to be taken into account in engineering the new road.
Highways director Huw Morgan said: "The intention is to complete the work there as soon as possible and then we will review the performance of the consultants. It has been a complex project . The road was redesigned twice and there have been many problems.
"If there is a case against the consultants we will pursue it," he added.
