Events are starting to take shape for Cardigan’s 900th anniversary celebrations last year.

Activities that are definite include St David’s Day cawl at Tabernacl chapel vestry on March 1, the river and food festival on August 14, a flower festival in St Mary’s Church during that week and of course the Big Weekend with Studt’s Fair.

An interactive events calendar has been set up on the Tivy-Side website for Aberteifi 2010 so that YOU can add YOUR event to make it a true year’s worth of celebrations.

To add your event simply click on the events button on the Tivy-Side website (tivysideadvertiser.co.uk), pick your date in 2010, choose Aberteifi2010 under the ‘where’ section, choose your event type, click ‘go’ and then follow the on-screen instructions.

As events start to come in we will also publish them in the Tivy-Side.

There are also fundraising events planned. The first is a concert celebrating St David’s Day on February 28 in Theatr Mwldan.

The 2010 committee have lined up some very special acts - watch this space for further information.

Looking further ahead, a special celebratory dinner is being planned at the newly-refurbished Guildhall on New Year’s Eve this year. The event is being organised by hairdresser Jackie Edwards who is already booking tables. Contact Jackie on 01239 612820.

Cardigan Embroidery Club are working on four panels depicting the history of the town and the town council is also discussing what it plans to do to celebrate.

If your club or society is planning anything please let the 2010 committee know - especially if you are applying for grants. We can achieve much more if we work together.

If you want to get involved or have an idea for a celebration either email the 2010 committee on the above address or contact the Tivy-Side.
