People in Ceredigion could be paying some of the highest energy bills across Wales.
This is due to the county having one of the lowest percentages of homes rated EPC band C or above in the country.
New data from commercial property marketplace EG Propertylink has revealed that only 30.2 per cent of homes in Ceredigion meet this energy efficiency standard.
This is the second lowest percentage in Wales, with only Gwynedd having fewer homes rated EPC band C or above.
This means that a significant number of homes in Ceredigion are not energy efficient, which could lead to higher energy bills for residents.
The data was gathered from GOV.UK and covers a 10-year period from the second quarter of 2014 to the first quarter of 2024.
The research highlights the areas in Wales that could be paying the most in energy bills due to poor energy efficiency.
Ceredigion's low percentage of energy-efficient homes suggests that many residents may be struggling with high energy costs, particularly during the colder months.
Chloe Ward, product manager at EG Propertylink, said: "This new data underscores the importance of enhancing home energy efficiency across Wales, especially in areas like Gwynedd and Ceredigion, where the majority of homes lack sufficient energy efficiency.
"Upgrading insulation and other energy-saving features not only helps reduce household bills but also supports sustainable living."
Gwynedd tops the list with only 25.62 per cent of homes rated at band C or above, meaning many residents could face particularly high energy bills.
This low efficiency rate points to a need for significant energy-saving upgrades to alleviate financial strain, especially during colder months.
Following Ceredigion, Powys ranks third with just 32.27 per cent of homes rated at band C or above.
Carmarthenshire follows with a 33.75 per cent efficiency rate, meaning a significant number of homes may not have the necessary energy-saving features.
Blaenau Gwent, with an efficiency rate of only 35.64 per cent, ranks fifth.
The Isle of Anglesey has just 35.71 per cent of homes rated at band C or above.
Conwy has 35.9 per cent of its homes rated C or above, leaving many households with less efficient heating systems and higher energy costs.
Denbighshire ranks eighth, with 36.85 per cent of homes meeting energy efficiency standards.
With 37.41 per cent of homes rated at band C or above, Rhondda Cynon Taf ranks ninth.
Rounding out the top ten, Pembrokeshire has 38.61 per cent of homes rated at band C or above.
