A DRINK-driver and a motorist caught without a licence or insurance have had their cases heard in court recently.

The two defendants were charged with failing to answer bail, drink-driving, cannabis possession, and driving without a licence or insurance.

Their cases were heard at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

TOBY HOLLAND, 52, of Aberporth, was found guilty of drink-driving.

Holland was driving a Toyota Hilux on the A487 near Blaenannerch on May 4. When breathalysed, he recorded having 57 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35.

He pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty after the offence was proved in his absence on September 12.

The defendant was fined £600 and was ordered to pay £650 in costs and a £293 surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 16 months.

Holland was further charged with failing to answer bail as soon as practicable after not attending Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on September 12. He was fined another £133 at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on October 1.

ABDULLA ALYUFRUSI, 33, of Adpar, was caught driving without a licence or insurance.

Alyufrusi was driving a Volkswagen Fox on the A487 near Pantygrwndy on September 10. However it was found that his driving licence had expired and had no valid insurance policy.

Officers also found 47.1 grams of herbal cannabis.

Alyufrusi pleaded guilty to cannabis possession and the driving offences at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on October 1.

He was banned from driving for three months, and must pay a £200 fine, £85 in costs and a surcharge of £80.
