Ten Ceredigion pubs have appeared in the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide for 2025.
As the UK’s best-selling food and beer guide, the guide surveys 4500 pubs across the country.
With over 900 pubs included in the guide, there are 322 from the whole of Wales, 31 from Mid Wales and 72 from West Wales.
CAMRA Chairman Ash Corbett-Collins said: “CAMRA’s mission is to ensure support from both the UK and Welsh Government as well as tangible legislation to protect pubs in this country.
“By next year’s edition of the Guide, we want to be talking about the beer and pub trade growing with the support of communities, Senedd and UK Parliament alike.”
Here is a list of ten pubs mentioned from Ceredigion:
- Cadwgan Inn, Aberaeron
- Bottle & Barrel, Aberystwyth
- Glengower Hotel, Aberystwyth
- Tafarn Jem, Lampeter
- Black Lion, Llanbadarn Fawr
- Nag’s Head, Lampeter
- Porth Hotel, Llandysul
- Pentre Arms Hotel, Llangrannog
- Three Horseshoe Inn, Llangeitho
- Penllwyndu, Llangoedmoer
The information in the Good Beer Guide is collated by thousands of volunteers who give up their free time to discover which pubs deserve to be in the guide.
The guide’s foreword is written by ITV’s Executive Producer for Continuing Drama, Ian Macleod who wrote: “The story which threatened one of our pubs the most was also the one which most resonated with our times. In 2023, the Rovers Return closed its doors.
“A combination of the lingering legacy of the Covid lockdowns and the cost-of-living crisis meant that landlady Jenny Bradley couldn’t afford to keep it open.
“The characters – and the viewers – lamented the news like the loss of a loved one. If it were needed, it was a timely reminder of the central place the nation’s pubs have in our lives and in our affections.”
The guide is sponsored by Midland Snacks Traditional Pork Scratchings and endorsed by Cask Marque.
On September 26, 2024, the guide was published and can be purchased on the CAMRA shop website.
