Ceredigion residents can now enjoy a trip on the Vale of Rheidol Railway for half price.

Until November 3, all standard class tickets on the iconic line will be available at a 50 per cent discount for residents in the county.

This offer covers the October half-term week, and early booking is advised.

The 12-mile journey aboard the restored 1920s steam locomotives takes passengers through the scenic Cambrian Mountains, providing a unique vantage point accessible only by train.

The journey, which starts in Aberystwyth, ends in Devil's Bridge, offering a nostalgic trip through the Ceredigion countryside.

Autumn is considered one of the best times to ride the train, with changing leaf colours and the falling foliage opening up more expansive views.

The low autumnal sun adds to the charm, casting long shadows over the landscape.

Upon reaching Devil's Bridge, visitors can explore the renowned waterfalls, enjoy refreshments at Woodlands Tearoom, treat themselves at Sarah Bunton’s Chocolate Shop, or have a meal at the Hafod Inn.

The area also offers several paths and trails for walking between the railway’s restored stations.

The return journey to Aberystwyth can be boarded at any time.

The half-price offer is open to all Ceredigion residents, who can purchase tickets for family and visiting friends by providing proof of their address.
