A man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and common assault following an incident in a quiet Pembrokeshire village.
Locals say armed police, dog units and a police helicopter descended on St Dogmaels on the afternoon of Monday, September 16.
A police update that evening said that the ‘unusual police presence’ was caused by an ‘isolated incident’ that had been ‘safely resolved’.
Two police patrol cars remained in the village late into the evening to reassure members of the public.
In an update issued today, Wednesday, September 25, Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that they responded to reports of an assault in which the victim was injured.
Police have arrested and charged a man with being in possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and common assault in relation to the incident.
“Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of an assault, on St Dogmaels Road, Cardigan, on Monday 16 September 2024 at approx. 1.55pm,” said a police spokesperson.
“The victim sustained minor injuries.
“One man, 52, was arrested and charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and common assault in relation to this incident.”
