A blue plaque will be unveiled at a Newport premises.
The commemorative plaque will be located on The Old School, Lower St Mary Street, Newport. It will celebrate the first and smallest commercial solar PV installation in the UK, which began feeding electricity into the grid on October 11, 1996.
The unveiling ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 5, at 2.30pm.
The building was formerly home to the West Wales Eco Centre, a pioneering charity that installed the solar panels and advocated for other innovative climate solutions.
Founded in 1980, the centre provided energy advice, climate change education, and initiated several groundbreaking projects.
These included the UK's first bulk purchase insulation scheme and West Wales' first bottle bank.
The centre also employed and trained many residents to understand environmental challenges.
The ceremony will offer a chance to meet and thank some of those involved, with refreshments provided at the Golden Lion.
