A mobile coverage checker has been launched by Growing Mid Wales.
This tool will help residents and businesses in the region assess the quality of mobile network coverage in their area.
The initiative, a collaboration between Growing Mid Wales and mobile analysts Streetwave, uses data-capturing devices installed in waste collection vehicles to survey mobile network quality across every road in the region.
The data from these surveys, conducted weekly since June 2024, is now available to the public.
The coverage checker provides information on throughput speeds, signal strength, and network generation from the four main UK mobile networks: EE, O2, Three, and Vodafone.
This information can help residents and businesses make informed choices about their mobile connectivity options.
However, Growing Mid Wales cautions that the data in the coverage checker is not definitive and should be used alongside other information sources.
The data is updated monthly, ensuring that the latest throughput speeds are accurately represented.
Residents can check the exact download and upload speeds offered by EE, Vodafone, Three, and O2 within a 30m radius of their homes or businesses by entering their postcode and selecting their address.
The coverage checker is only applicable to addresses in Ceredigion and Powys.
Councillor James Gibson-Watt, leader of Powys County Council, and Councillor Bryan Davies, leader of Ceredigion County Council, co-chairs of the Growing Mid Wales Board, said: "This initiative demonstrates our commitment to enhancing digital connectivity across our region.
"By providing residents and businesses with real mobile coverage data results, we empower them to make informed decisions and improve their access to reliable network services."
The coverage checker forms part of the Growing Mid Wales mobile mapping project, which is supported by the local authorities in Powys and Ceredigion, and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund from the UK Government.
Regular updates on the project's progress will be shared, and interested parties can sign up for the GMW newsletter for more information at growingmidwales@ceredigion.gov.uk.
The coverage checker can be accessed on the Growing Mid Wales website.
