THESE three defendants have appeared in court recently.

The trio were accused of drug-driving, criminal damage and possession of cannabis.

Their cases were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

PAUL NEWPORT, 50, of Maescader in Pencader, was caught with cannabis.

Newport was found in possession of cannabis at Maescader on April 18.

He pleaded guilty, and was fined £80 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on August 20.

Newport must also pay £85 in costs and a £32 surcharge, and a forfeiture and destruction order was made for the cannabis.

SONYA ABLETT, 47, of Llanllwni, was caught behind the wheel whilst high on cannabis.

Ablett was driving a Skoda Yeti in Llanfihangel-Ar-Arth on February 12. When tested, she recorded having 5.1 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannibinol per litre (µg/L) of blood.

The legal limit – to exclude accidental exposure – is 2µg/L.

Ablett pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on August 20 and was banned from driving for a year.

She was fined £120, and must pay £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge.

BENJAMIN GOLDING, 30, of New Inn, admitted damaging a CCTV camera.

Golding was alleged to have damaged a CCTV camera worth £200 in Trelech on January 7 last year.

He pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on August 21.

Golding was ordered to pay £100 in compensation, a £40 fine, £85 in costs and a £16 surcharge.
