A MAN has admitted a series of assaults against his partner.

Geraint Purton, 30, of New Inn, near Pencader, appeared at Swansea Crown Court charged with three offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and also engaging in coercive or controlling behaviour.

It was alleged that Purton assaulted a woman at an address in Carmarthen on May 14, June 18 and July 1. He was accused of causing actual bodily harm on each occasion.

Between January 1 and July 13, Purton was accused of coercive control against the same woman.

It was alleged that he was repeatedly violent, verbally degraded and humiliated her, isolated her from her friends and family, damaged her property, monitored her phone, and recorded her whilst she was sleeping and during her conversations.

Purton admitted each of the assaults, but denied coercive control.

The prosecution said these pleas were acceptable and a trial would not be sought on the remaining charge.

The defendant was remanded in to custody, and will be sentenced on September 18.
