Hard-working pupils in the Tivyside area have received their GCSE results today, with results published today by the WJEC indicating that high standards are being achieved in Ceredigion schools.

In Ceredigion, 98 per cent of entries for WJEC examinations were graded A*-G; 71percent achieved A*-C grades and 24% of the entries achieved A*-A grades.

Councillor Wyn Thomas, Ceredigion County Council cabinet member with responsibility for the Schools’ Service, said:

“Pupils in Ceredigion can be proud of their results once again. Schools faced, and continue to face, various challenges so maintaining standards is becoming increasingly difficult. Governors, school leaders, teachers and assistants need to be congratulated for their hard work, endurance and expertise. I would like to wish everyone the best of luck with their future choices, whichever path you take.”

Elen James, chief education officer, added:

“I would like to congratulate all our pupils on their efforts once again this year. It is reassuring to see such positive results which is a reflection of the effective collaboration between everyone who is part of each individual's educational journey. The tireless work of the teachers and staff, the support of the parents/guardians and the perseverance of our young people is to be recognised and celebrated.”

Ay Ysgol Bro Teifi Year 11 pupils were congratulated on an excellent set of GCSE results this year. Overall, the percentage of students achieving 5A*-A grades increased and the number of students achieving 5A*-C also increased. This is despite grades returning to pre-pandemic level nationally.

“This is testament to the hard work of the learners and staff over the past two years and reflect our schools core values of resilience and ambition,” said headteacher Gareth Evans.

“I wish all the pupils all the best for the future, whether they are returning to study in the 6th form or venturing to college, apprenticeships or the world of work. Llongyfarchiadau.”

Notable individual achievements Ysgol Bro Teifi include : Ffion Thomas – 11A* and 1 Distinction* Peredur Llywelyn – 9A* and 3A Esyllt Jones – 8A* and 4A Cynyr Macrae – 8A* and 3A Sian Jenkins – 7A* and 4A Gwydion Dafis – 7A* and 3A.

Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn pupils also celebrated another excellent set of results with the school seeing an increase in the number of pupils achieving their target grades.

There were many notable individual successes including: Jack Dentten, Isabella Griffiths, Tomos Harrison, Ella Harwood, Iestyn Kedward-Jones, Matthew Lumsdaine, Ryan Moore, Oscar Ramsaha-Southall, Ffion Thomas and Timothy Watts.

“It is with great pride and joy that I congratulate all our pupils on their achievements,” said headteacher Hugh Thomas. “This success is a tribute to their hard work and determination.

“I would also like to thank the parents, governors and the community for their support and the staff at Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn for their hard work and commitment. Congratulations to all our pupils.”

At Ysgol Bro Preseli the school was delighted to extend our congratulations to pupils on their outstanding GCSE results.

“These achievements are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and resilience throughout their studies. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them,” said the school.

“Our thanks also go to our exceptional teaching and support staff, whose unwavering commitment and expertise have played a pivotal role in guiding our pupils to success. Their dedication to nurturing and inspiring our pupils has made this achievement possible.
