Nine police stations in Dyfed-Powys have been designated as drop-off points for people to hand in zombie-style knives and machetes ahead of the nationwide ban.

To eradicate these dangerous weapons, the Home Office has declared that owning them will be illegal from September 24 as they are added to the list of dangerous prohibited items already banned.

These include zombie knives, butterfly knives, Samurai swords, and push daggers.

People who have these weapons are being urged to surrender them legally and without facing any consequences.

The designated surrender spots in Dyfed-Powys include Llanelli, Carmarthen, Ammanford, Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Haverfordwest, Llandrindod Wells, Brecon, and Newtown police stations.

The Home Office has also introduced a compensation scheme to incentivise citizens to participate in this scheme.

Eligible individuals can claim compensation at the time of the handover.

The scheme will run for four weeks, from August 26 to September 23.

Police forces will assist in forwarding these claims to the Home Office.

After the campaign expires, the prohibition comes into full effect on September 24.

Anyone found in possession of these weapons after this date could face imprisonment.
