Envelopes were excitedly torn open at schools up and down the region on Thursday as students received their A and AS-Level results.
The A-Level results published by the WJEC indicate that high standards are being achieved in Ceredigion schools.
99% of entries for WJEC examinations were graded A*-E; 79% achieved A*-C grades; 57% were graded A*-B and 30% of the entries achieved the top ‘A-A*’ grades.
Councillor Wyn Thomas, Ceredigion’s Cabinet Member for Schools’ Service, said: "Congratulations to all our students on their outstanding A Level, BTEC, and AS results! Your hard work, dedication, and resilience have truly paid off. Each one of you have shown remarkable determination and commitment, and we are incredibly proud of your achievements.
“These results are a testament to your perseverance and the support of your families, teachers, and friends. As you take the next steps in your educational and professional journeys, remember that this is just the beginning. The skills and knowledge you have gained will serve as a strong foundation for your future endeavors.”
Headteacher at Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi Nicola James said: “Nationally, we know that grades are down as the exam regulator Qualifications Wales returned exams to normal, pre-Covid conditions with no additional support for candidates. We have ensured that this is not the case at YUA, which is testament to the quality of the teaching and learning at this school. I am immensely proud of the pupils and all the staff who worked so hard to ensure the best possible outcomes for our young people. I congratulate them all and wish them all the very best for the future.”
Meanwhile, Hugh Thomas, headteacher at Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn said: “The school is extremely pleased to report another excellent set of ‘A’ Level results. The consistent success over recent years is a tribute to our hard working students, the support of parents and the dedication of our excellent staff at Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn.
“Notable successes included Ella Hewitt-Fisher, Krish Ramsaha-Southall, Aldo Breedyk, Kirby Chambers, Naomi Farkash and Katie-Ann Jones. The school is very proud of all the students, nearly all of whom have gained a place in their first choice university.
“I would like to congratulate all of our students and express my gratitude to the staff for their hard work and to the parents and the governing body for their support during another challenging year. We wish all our students every success in the future.”
A statement from Ysgol Bro Preseli said: “The excellent grades achieved this year are a clear testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of our pupils and staff.
“With 40% of all A Level grades awarded at A* or A we are extremely proud of you all. This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our students, the support of their families, and the exceptional commitment of our teaching and support staff. Well done to everyone involved in making this success possible!
“As the only fully Welsh Medium Post-16 education provider in Pembrokeshire, we take immense pride in offering high-quality education through the medium of Welsh. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to all parents / guardians and pupils for your continued support. Your belief in the value of Welsh medium education has been instrumental in our success as a school.”
