A beloved taiko group will be performing in Cardigan in October as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations.
The highly recognised Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers, famed for pioneering the art form, will deliver a special show of 'big beats, visual treats, and vital energy' at Theatr Mwldan on October 16 at 7.30pm.
Celebrating their 30th anniversary, the group is taking audiences ‘in time’ through a thrilling odyssey of their three decades in performance.
The concert offers a full theatrical experience, with dynamic choreography and heart-pounding rhythms set against atmospheric soundscapes.
Regarded as Europe’s longest-established taiko group, Mugenkyo has captivated audiences at thousands of performances worldwide.
This significant event marks their return to the stage on a major UK tour after nearly five years.
Since their last tour, the drummers have been engaged in numerous projects, which include a collaboration with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra on the ambitious "World of Gods".
They've also appeared in the Hollywood film "Tin Soldier", starring Jamie Foxx and Robert DeNiro, performing at the World Expo in Dubai, and featuring on the BBC TV coverage of the Tokyo Olympics.
In addition, the group had a 26-date run at the Adelaide Fringe, and executed the "Fire & Light" project, all while creating online classes and virtual performances.
The group has largely kept busy rebuilding their purpose-built residential studio and workshop space for their ongoing in-house training programme and masterclasses for taiko groups.
Mugenkyo has released six albums and three concert DVDs, making them one of the most artistically prolific taiko groups outside of Japan.
In addition to their main touring work at theatres and concert halls, they’ve also performed at large-scale events and festivals both at home and abroad.
The group has appeared on TV programmes such as the Brit Awards, BBC Last Night of the Proms, and filmed in India for Bollywood, continually expanding the boundaries of taiko with their genre-crossing collaborations.
Tickets are available via Mwldan's website or by calling 01239 621200.
