Volunteers in Ceredigion were recently honoured at an awards ceremony.
The Ceredigion Association of Voluntary Organisations (CAVO) held its annual Volunteer Awards at Aberporth Village Hall on June 10, 2024, thanking those who devote their time to benefit others across the county.
CAVO chief officer Hazel Lloyd Lubran said: "The standard of nominations this year was exceptionally high, presenting the selection panel with a challenging but rewarding task.
"The ceremony unveiled a range of outstanding individuals and groups who have profoundly impacted Ceredigion."
The winners were:
- Outstanding achievement: Diane Dearlove - Jig-So Children’s Centre
- Team: St John Ambulance Aberystwyth Division
- Trustee: Rona Dalton-Thompson – Borth Community Hub
- Young person: Owen Drakeley – Borth Community Hub
- 40 years of service: Caroline Wilson - Girlguiding Ceredigion
The ceremony applauded the contributions of volunteers, who provide 145 million hours of service worth £1.7 billion annually to the Welsh economy, according to Third Sector Support Wales.
This highlights the important role of volunteers.
The Ceredigion Volunteer Awards serve as a reminder of the incredible effect volunteer work has on communities.
