£17,400 has been donated to a Ceredigion hospital.

Cyfeillion Bronglais League of Friends charity has given the sum to Bronglais Hospital and it will be benefitting two services.

The majority of the funds—£13,400—will go toward a fixed birthing pool at the Gwenllian maternity ward.

This addition aims to foster a calming atmosphere and promote positive birthing experiences for parents.

The remaining £4,000 will assist the Enlli older adult mental health ward, funding interactive singing and movement sessions for patients.

These activities are intended to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, while also enhancing cognitive stimulation and overall wellbeing.

Elinor Powell, chairperson of Cyfeillion Bronglais League of Friends, said: "We're absolutely thrilled to be able to contribute to these fabulous causes.

"It's lovely for us to make donations that bring joy to people's lives, none more so than birth and singing.

"We would like to say a huge thank you to our CBLF members and all those who have donated recently.

"Special thanks must go to the audience of Sgarmes' Christmas Singalong in the Great Hall last December, who raised almost £10,000 through ticket sales, a raffle, and donations on the night."

Dawn Jones, the hospital's head of nursing, said: "We want to say a sincere thank you to Cyfeillion Bronglais League of Friends for their generous donations and for their continued support for patients and staff.

"These donations will make a positive difference to the experience of families bringing new life into the world, and to some of our oldest and frailest patients who can benefit from the joy of music and movement.”
