A Cardigan-based artist will be exhibiting and hosting a workshop as part of the Cardigan Arts Trail.

Artist Ann Fletcher-Williams will be exhibiting her art and expressing her love for Cardigan and the Welsh landscape from August 10 at The Seagull.

The display titled PATCHWORKS/CLYTWAITH is part of the Ceredigion Art & Craft Trail and includes vibrant paintings inspired by Welsh patchwork and the estuary by The Patch beach near Gwbert.

Ms Fletcher-Williams, a resident of Cardigan since 2022, visited Wales from a very young age and her artwork is a homage to the estuary and the stunning coastline of West Wales.

She said: "The new paintings are inspired by ‘The Patch’ beach at the mouth of the Teifi, especially the old boats with their flaking paint and splintered timbers.

"I love their textures and the way they are like old residents of the river.

"I am also fascinated by Welsh patchwork with its layered history and vibrant colours, stitching and textures."

She studied fine art at Sunderland University and has exhibited her work at various galleries.

She returned to her first love of painting in 2020 after an accomplished career as an exhibition curator and university lecturer.

She added: "It is a fantastic opportunity to show my paintings and let people see me working."

The Seagull in Cardigan is hosting the exhibition, which will run from August 10 to August 17.

As a guest, Ms Fletcher-Williams will host a free exhibition of paintings including the new PATCHWORKS/CLYTWAITH series.

She will also be exhibiting some of her past unseen works.

An eagerly anticipated annual Art and Craft Trail will see 45 artists take part across Ceredigion between August 10 and 26.

Guests are welcome to visit the exhibition, featuring more than 30 paintings, including her brand-new PATCHWORKS/CLYTWAITH series which takes prominence in her gallery.
