A WOMAN has been warned she could face a prison sentence after she admitted attacking her mother.

Leah Kelly, 22, of no fixed abode, appeared at Swansea Crown Court charged with three offences following an incident on June 12.

It was alleged that Kelly assaulted and strangled her mother at an address in Newcastle Emlyn, as well as damaging a wall and a television.

Kelly pleaded guilty to assault by beating and criminal damage, but denied strangulation.

Prosecutor Georgia Donohue said these pleas were acceptable, and a trial would not be sought on the strangulation offence.

The court heard the relationship between Kelly and her mother was “extremely toxic”.

Judge Huw Rees ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared, and re-admitted Kelly to bail.

He told Kelly to return to court to be sentenced on August 5.

“I’m not promising you what the sentence will be,” he said. “All options remain open.”
