Ceredigion has been chosen as the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show's feature county.

Designated as such for 2024, this accolade for Ceredigion is part of a longstanding tradition, dating back to the show's inception when its location rotated annually between different Welsh counties.

Historically, Ceredigion and its people boast a rich agricultural and cultural heritage, contributing significantly to the Royal Welsh Show, a major annual event.

For the past year, residents have united through numerous activities to fundraise for Sioe’r Cardis in anticipation of this year's show.

This celebration is particularly noteworthy as it marks 120 years since the inaugural Royal Welsh Show took place in Aberystwyth in 1904.

The strength of Ceredigion's economy partly lies in its substantial agriculture and food production sectors.

Family farms exist in abundance throughout the county, holding steadfastly to the traditions of the Welsh language while operating high-calibre businesses.

Ceredigion is also home to a diverse range of flourishing independent companies, spanning food and drink to hospitality and tourism.

Ceredigion County Council maintains its commitment to fostering success in both the business and wider community sectors, endorsing partnerships like Growing Mid Wales and Arfor.

Entrepreneurs also benefit from direct business support available through the Cynnal y Cardi scheme.

Eifion Evans, Ceredigion County Council’s chief executive, said: "It is indeed a significant privilege for Ceredigion to be the feature county at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.

"This prestigious opportunity allows us to showcase the rich culture and community spirit that defines our rural county.

"It is also an opportunity for us to promote the entrepreneurial opportunities there are in Ceredigion and the support that is available for businesses to thrive."

Between July 22-25, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show will offer a host of activities for visitors, including panel speakers and virtual reality experiences at the Ceredigion stall.
