Ceredigion residents are being reminded that they will need to show photographic ID to vote in the general election.
The UK Parliament election, for the newly created Ceredigion Preseli constituency, is set to take place on July 4, 2024.
The election requires voters to present an approved form of photographic ID to cast their ballot.
A full selection of acceptable ID forms is available online for those needing guidance. Some expired IDs will be accepted, as long as the photograph is still a strong likeness to the individual.
For those lacking valid identification, applications can be submitted online for the free Voter Authority Certificate, an alternate form of ID for voting purposes.
The deadline for these free ID applications is 5pm on June 26.
Eligibility to vote also requires residents to be correctly registered.
The cut-off date for registering to vote in the election is midnight, June 18.
If any recent movers have yet to update their registration information, it can be done easily online and must be done to allow a vote to be placed.
Options are available for those unable to or uncomfortable voting in-person.
Registrations for postal votes are open until 5pm on Wednesday, June 19, and proxy votes until 5pm on Wednesday, June 26.
Postal and proxy voting applications can both be completed online.
British citizens residing abroad are now eligible to vote via postal or proxy routes in the upcoming UK Parliament Elections.
No matter the duration of their stay abroad, even after 15 years, they are encouraged to take part in this election.
Returning officer for Ceredigion Preseli, Eifion Evans, strongly encourages voter readiness.
He said: "We don’t want anyone to risk losing their right to vote so make sure you’re registered to vote before midnight Tuesday, 18 June.
"If you are voting at a polling station, I urge you to familiarise yourself with the changes the voter ID requirement brings, including what type of ID document is acceptable."
For any questions or concerns, residents are encouraged to get in touch with Ceredigion Preseli Electoral Services.
They can be reached via telephone, email, or their website.
