CARDIGAN town mayor Cllr Olwen Davies has congratulated local youngsters on their successes at the National Urdd Eisteddfod on behalf of her fellow councillors.
They were Raphael James, of Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi, for achieving first place in the piano solo competition for Year 10 and below 19 years old.
Emma Davies-Warhurst, Year 10, who won the Individual Artist/Band competition for Years 7-13.
Lleucu Haf Thomas who came second in the instrumental ensemble, Year 10 and under 19 years old.
Lleucu also achieved 11 individual medals across the Art, Design and Technology competitions, composing music, Eisteddfod T and hairdressing, resulting in a total of six golds, five silvers and one bronze medal.
In the sporting world Cllr Davies sent congratulations to Jem Evans, Year 11 and Summer Evans, Year 10, for receiving their first Welsh caps for playing for the Welsh Schools U-16 football team.
Sincere congratulations also went to Penparc Young Farmers club for winning the Ceredigion YFC Rally for the first time in 40 years and also to Fishguard YFC - where Ffion Davies, the Mayor’s consort, is Chairperson - for winning the Pembrokeshire rally.
