The 30-strong squad o friends and neighbours from Talgarreg have set their sights on the 2024 Cardiff Half to raise funds for the Glangwili Hopsital chemotherapy unit, Singleton Hospital's Maggie’s Cancer Centre, and Kidney Wales.

Named Criw Talgarreg Hanner Marathon Caerdydd, the group of fundraisers includes community figures like healthcare support workers, teachers, students, farmers and nurses.

Healthcare support worker, Allana Silvestri-Jones said: "A gang of us with close connection to Talgarreg village have decided to run the Cardiff Half Marathon on October 6.

"The children in the group will be running the Children’s Race on Saturday.

"We wish to raise money for three charities that are very close to our hearts as we have close friends who have benefited from their help during the past year.

"We are hoping to raise £1,500."

The official charity of the Hywel Dda University Health Board, Hywel Dda Health Charities, expressed their gratitude for the support of the community.

Head of the charity, Nicola Llewelyn, said: "We want to wish Criw Talgarreg the very best of luck with their training and with the Half Marathon in October.

"The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive."
