Students at a Llandysul school celebrated the new Wales curriculum with an Indian night.
Ysgol T Llew Jones turned into an exciting hub of Indian culture on April 11, with 60 parents in attendance to enjoy a remarkable display of student talent.
The entire evening's operations were handled by the children - from sourcing local ingredients to meal preparation, serving guests, managing the bar, and even providing crèche services for the younger ones.
This vibrant celebration wasn't just a demonstration of the rich Indian culture, but also a practical exercise that underscored the essence of Wales' new curriculum.
This modernised curriculum prioritises equipping youth with real-life experiences.
The project, which saw the students operate their own 'T Llew Tiger' restaurant for the night, offered the youngsters a chance to step into challenging roles, acquire vital life skills, and cultivate a sense of responsibility and independence.
Wales' curriculum features a unique design that fosters learning through compelling, real-life situations.
The successful management of the Indian night by Ysgol T Llew Jones students was a live demonstration of this academic approach, offering a practical experience that will boost their individual and academic development.
The event was not only limited to educational benefits but also extended to charitable contributions.
A significant amount of money collected will be utilised to improve educational resources and opportunities for the students.
The students expressed great appreciation for the opportunity to learn, mature, and give back to their school community in such a significant way.
The Indian Night at Ysgol T Llew Jones was a clear testimony to the potency of experiential learning and the positive influence of the new Wales curriculum.
It allowed students to connect with their community, appreciate a different culture, and develop skills that surpass classroom boundaries.
This successful evening's event demonstrates how real-life experiences can mould young minds and set them up for future success.
A special thanks went to Claudia, Emma, and Alan - the dedicated kitchen staff who made this all possible, as well as Tesco Aberteifi, Aldi Aberteifi, Llanina Arms, Andrew Rees Butchers Narberth, and Hoffnant Stores.
