A plaque was recently presented to the New Quay RNLI crew by the Stourbridge RNLI Fundraising Group commemorating a retired lifeboat.
The 'Frank and Lena Clifford of Stourbridge' Mersey class lifeboat had provided more than three decades of service, with a total of 31 years on the seas.
The presentation took place at the lifeboat station on March 4, during a livestream of the Service of Thanksgiving from Westminster Abbey celebrating the RNLI's 200th year.
The engraved glass plaque was accepted by the New Quay RNLI's coxswain Daniel Potter and mechanic Bernie Davies. It was presented by Chris Fonteyn, Helena Turner and Sue and Jim Coombes, all of whom are part of Stourbridge RNLI fundraising group.
The commemorated lifeboat, funded courtesy of a legacy left to the RNLI by the late Frank Clifford, had stood in service in the New Quay since April 8, 1992.
Over the past 31 years, the all-weather vessel launched for duty 219 times, helped around 216 individuals in difficulty and is credited with saving 21 lives.
Dale Wilkins, Stourbridge fundraiser and Rotary president, also attended the event with his wife Sally, having walked the North Wales coast path and raising more than £1000 for the New Quay RNLI.
The Stourbridge branch pledged to preserve their relationship with the New Quay Lifeboat Station and its volunteer crew.
Mr Potter said: "We would like to thank the Stourbridge branch for their ongoing support over many years, including a significant contribution to our Shannon appeal.
"We are very grateful for their support that ensures our service can continue across Cardigan Bay."
