THESE drivers have had their cases heard in court recently.

The motorists were charged with offences including drink and drug driving.

Their cases were heard at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court and Llanelli Magistrates' Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

CHRISTOPHER REES, 40, of Maescader in Pencader, has admitted driving under the influence of cocaine.

Rees was alleged to have got behind the wheel on Penparcau Road in Penparcau on March 18.

When tested, he recorded having 37 micrograms of cocaine per litre (µg/L) of blood and more than 800µg/L of benzoylecgonine – the main metabolite of cocaine.

The legal limits for these – to exclude accidental exposure – are 10µg/L and 50µg/L respectively.

Rees pleaded guilty to two charges of drug driving at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on December 21.

He was banned from driving for three years, and must pay a £120 fine, £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge.

CHRISTOPHER BERNARDI, 63, of near Penrherber, Newcastle Emlyn, admitted being twice the drink drive limit.

Bernardi got behind the wheel of a Dacia Sandero on the A484 at Llechryd on December 12. When breathalysed, he was recorded as having 74 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

He pleaded guilty to drink driving, and was disqualified for 17 months at Aberystwyth Magistrates' Court on January 1.

Bernardi was also fined £207, and must pay £85 in costs and a £83 surcharge.

DANIEL WHITE, 21, of Cwm Cou, has been banned from driving after getting behind the wheel while high on cocaine.

White was driving a Seat Ibiza on the A484 at Carmarthen on June 24. When tested, he was recorded as having 599µg/L of benzoylecgonine in his blood.

The legal limit is 50µg/L.

He pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on January 2, and was disqualified from driving for a year.

White was fined £400, and must pay £85 in costs and a £160 surcharge.

RYAN BARALOS, 40, of Penparc, was accused of driving while high on cannabis.

Baralos was alleged to have been driving a Peugeot Expert panel van on the A484 at Llechryd on August 4. He was recorded as having 3.2µg/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood.

The legal limit is 2µg/L.

He pleaded guilty to drug driving at Aberystwyth Magistrates' Court on January 4.
