ABERPORTH Village Hall has secured a £10k grant from the National Grid Community Fund to make its secondary community building Canolfan Dyffryn energy efficient.
The grant will cover the cost of a new boiler and go towards installing solar panels - which will help with the cost of running the community fridge.
Project officer Sue Lewis said: "While our new £1.35m village hall is being built to the latest energy efficiency standards, Canolfan Dyffryn desperately needs some upgrading.
“The electricity costs for running the fridge are really high. We are delighted that the grant from the National Grid Community Fund will make a real difference to running the centre efficiently."
