THIS coming weekend, Armed Forces veterans, serving personnel, their families and members of the public join together to mark Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday to remember those who fought and lost their lives in past conflicts.
Across Ceredigion, north Pembrokeshire and north Carmarthenshire, a number of events will be taking place to mark Armistice Day on November 11 and Remembrance Sunday on November 12. Here we detail those events that are taking place.
Saturday, November 11
Aberaeron
There will be a memorial service at Aberaeron Town Hall, Market Street on November 11.
Sunday, November 12
Aberaeron
There will be a remembrance service at Holy Trinity Church, Aberaeron at 11am on November 12. There will also be a wreath laying and remembrance service at 3pm at the Memorial Hall, Aberaeron.
Aberporth
St Cynwyl, Aberporth, will be hosting an Act of Remembrance alongside its Holy Communion at 10.45am.
Blaenporth
St David, Blaenporth will host an Act of Remembrance at 5pm.
Cardigan
There will be a remembrance service at the Cenotaph in Cardigan at 10.40am. Anyone wishing to lay a wreath at the cenotaph on behalf of an organisation must contact Jean Whitmore in advance on 01239 614487. After the service – which will end around 11.30am – there will be refreshments at Cardigan Bowling Club.
Newcastle Emlyn
There will be a service at 10am at Holy Trinity Church, Newcastle Emlyn with a parade starting from Emlyn Square at 9.30am.
Llandysul
There is also a remembrance service at St Barnabas Church, Velindre, Llandysul at 10am.
Carreg Wen
St David’s, Carreg Wen will host an Act of Remembrance alongside its Holy Communion at 10.45am.
Eglwyswrw
St Cristiolus, Eglwyswrw will host an Act of Remembrance after its church service at 10.15am.
Cilgerran
There will be a remembrance service at Castle Gates in Cilgerran at 10.45am.
St Dogmaels
There will be a remembrance service in St Dogmaels at the Memorial Hall at 10.30am.
Nevern
St Brynach, Nevern will host a remembrance service at 9.30am.
Dinas
St Brynach, Dinas, will host a remembrance service at 9.30am with a second remembrance service at the memorial at 10.50am.
Newport
There will be a procession starting at 10.30am with a remembrance service at 10.45am at Newport Memorial Hall.
Penbryn
St Michael’s Church, Penbryn will host a remembrance service alongside morning prayer at 11.15am.
Talgarreg
Talgarreg will host a remembrance service at 9.30am.
Cribyn
Cribyn will host a remembrance service at 11am.
New Quay
There will be a remembrance service at 10.45am at New Quay Memorial Hall.
