Barbie (12A) is one of many top films featuring this week at Mwldan, Cardigan from Friday, 21 July.
After being expelled from Barbieland for being a less than perfect-looking doll, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness.
Based on the Barbie fashion dolls by Mattel, it is the first live-action Barbie film after numerous computer-animated direct-to-video and streaming television films.
The film, directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, Little Women) stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, who go on a journey of self-discovery after their expulsion from the utopia Barbie Land.
It includes a large ensemble cast that includes America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell.
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 90% of 122 critics' reviews were positive, with an average rating of 8.3/10.
Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 82 out of 100, based on 49 critics, indicating "universal acclaim".
