ON Saturday, May 6, King Charles III is officially crowned and a number of events will be taking place across the UK to celebrate the new monarch.

Here we take a look at some of the events taking place across Ceredigion and the surrounding areas.

Aberporth

Aberporth Community Council will be hosting a coronation lunch on Sunday, May 7 at Lower Welfare, Park, Aberporth. Bring a picnic and join us to celebrate the Coronation and the launch of our bid to be a Bee Friendly Community. There will be Jon Jon Childrens Entertainer, facepainting, making wildflower seed balls, make a Coronation bee hotel for your garden, teas & coffee and celebration cake.

Cardigan Bay

Cardigan Bay Holiday Park will be hosting a coronation celebration on Saturday, May 6 from 11am.

The coronation will be shown on the big screen and there will be face painting between 10am and 12.30pm at a cost of £2.50. There will be an assault course and a street party from 12pm.

There will also be a disco from 7pm with Disco Dave.

Lampeter

Lampeter Family Centre will be hosting a coronation party at the Church Hall on Tuesday, May 2 between 11am and 1pm, with fancy dress, disco, crafts and party food.

Llandysul

Llandysul Coronation Celebration – Sunday, May 7 on the Paddlers Field.

A fun filled, family friendly day out with live music from 2pm from Llandysul Gospel Choir, No Mean Biscuit, Tregroes Choir and Way Out West and Twmpath from 5pm.

Bring your own picnic, Cambrian Organics Burgers and Ice cream available too!

Local voluntary groups will also be attending, including the Scouts, Llandysul WI, Llandysul Family Centre, Skanda Vale.

Llechryd and Llangoedmor

The Coronation will be celebrated in Llechryd and Llangoedmor with four days of events funded by Llangoedmor Community Council, Llechryd’s Parti yn y Parc group and the Maenordeifi Group of churches.

Friday, May 5 sees Coronation 50p pieces in a special souvenir pack presented to children at Llechryd school and the opening of the “Crown him with many crowns” exhibition of varied Royal memorabilia, the smallest of which is under one inch, the largest six feet! The exhibition will be in St Tydfil’s Church which will be open from 10 am to 5 pm.

Saturday, May 6 is the Coronation itself and most people are expected to be watching it at home or elsewhere.

Sunday, May 7, is the day of the “Big Lunch” and a community picnic will be held in the Coracle Hall from 2pm to 4pm. Everyone is invited to bring their own picnic or to buy fish and chips from the adjacent shop which will be opening specially for the occasion. People are encouraged to wear 50s style clothes and to take part in a competition for the best crown made of recyclable materials. Face-painting will be available for the children (or adults!) and entertainment will be provided by Kirilee. At 5pm there will be a Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving in St Tydfil’s Church including appropriate readings and music.

Monday, May 8 is the “Big Help Out” day and a Litter Pick has been organised, starting at the Coracle Hall at 10am. The “Crown him with many crowns” exhibition in the church will be open from 10am to 5pm, with afternoon teas available from 2pm.

The organisers look forward to a long weekend of the community getting together in a spirit of sharing and celebration.

Newcastle Emlyn

Newcastle Emlyn and District Community Collective will be hosting Music in the Park on Monday, May 8. Music in the Park is being  held in King George V Playing Fields, Newcastle Emlyn from 1pm until 6pm.

The collective are very pleased to have secured free parking for the event.

'It is fantastic that Carmarthenshire County Council have awarded us with free parking for the day' says Cllr Dave Thomas who is the facilitator of the newly formed collective. 'The afternoon event will be a celebration of community volunteering in our local area and there will be lots of activities  for all the family to enjoy.'

Headlining the music stage is renowned local band, Backtrax which has been sponsored by Newcastle Emlyn Town Council. They will be on stage at 4pm but prior to that there is an Open Mic session featuring local talent.

Music in the Park is a free event, however donations will be accepted and the proceeds will go towards supporting the playing fields and the children's play area. So Rock Up, bring a picnic and Get in the Groove!

New Quay

There will be a coronation dance at New Quay Memorial Hall on Sunday, May 7 between 7.30pm and 10pm. Music will be performed by Morriston Big Band. Tickets cost £10 in advance from Eventbrite or £12.50 on the door.
