A LOCAL church will be celebrating the King’s Coronation with a special exhibition.
St Tydfil’s Church in Llechryd will be hosting an exhibition of Coronation memorabilia and all things royal as part of Llechryd and Llangoedmor’s celebrations of King Charles III’s Coronation.
The church is asking for residents to lend any royal memorabilia they may have such as mugs, plates, flags, books, coins, stamps and other souvenirs of past coronations and royal celebrations.
People can also write down their recollections of royal celebrations and coronations to contribute. Anyone wishing to contribute to the exhibition can call Colin Lewis on 10239 682336.
The coronation is being held on Saturday, May 6.
There will be a big lunch on Sunday, May 7 at Llechryd’s Coracle Hall. The event is sponsored by Llangoedmor Community Council and entertainment will be provided.
Anyone wishing to attend can turn up with their own picnic lunch or buy lunch from Coracles Fish & Chip Shop which will open specifically for the occasion.
There will be a competition for the best crown made from recycled or recyclable materials and people are invited to wear 1950s style clothes.
There will be a service of celebration and thanksgiving at 5pm on Sunday, May 7 in St Tydfil’s Church.
