The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice in Ceredigion from 6pm on Sunday (15 January) until 10am on Sunday morning.
Icy surfaces are expected to develop following wintry showers leading to some difficult travelling conditions, it warns.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "Wintry showers are expected to develop during Sunday afternoon and evening.
"Clearing skies later in the night are expected to lead to ice developing on untreated surfaces. Showers will mainly fall as rain at low levels, but could turn to snow in heavier or more prolonged showers resulting in 2-5 cm accumulating in places above 100-200m."
BBC weather said: "Sunday afternoon, there will be a mixture of patchy cloud, bright spells and scattered showers flowing in from the north-west.
"Sunday night will see patchy cloud and clear spells along with some light, isolated showers, these wintry on the hills.
"Monday morning will see a few scattered showers but it will turn increasingly dry and bright for most by the afternoon, as these showers clear to the east. Chance of some hill snow in the morning."
The regions affected in Wales by the weather warning are Ceredigion; Conwy; Denbighshire; Flintshire; Gwynedd; Isle of Anglesey; Powys and Wrexham.
