THE condition of a road on a Cardigan housing estate is so bad that motorists are coming up the one-way system in the wrong direction in order to avoid the potholes, Cardigan town councillors have claimed.
At their latest monthly meeting members were unanimous in their opinion that the road in Maesglas was in dire need of repair and maintenance.
They also expressed frustration that requests for Ceredigion County Council officers to attend a site visit have been turned down.
Councillors described the condition of the estate’s road as ‘diabolical’. “People are coming up the one-way system when there are kids playing there,” they said.
“They are doing this in order to avoid the potholes.
“It’s important that Ceredigion County Council are made aware of the poor quality of that road surface.
“If they do indeed decide to re-do the road then perhaps they can look to install speed bumps there?”
Town clerk Eleri Maskell pledged to respond by highlighting safety issues to the local authority.
Ceredigion County Council have been asked to comment.
