Praise for south Ceredigion students on making the grade

The ‘A’ level examination results published today by the WJEC indicate that once again high standards are being achieved in Ceredigion Schools. 98.4% of entries for WJEC examinations were graded A* to E, with 42.1% of the entries achieving the top ’A’ grades. 

Councillor Wyn Thomas, Ceredigion County Council Cabinet Member for Schools, Lifelong Learning and Skills, said: “Many congratulations to Ceredigion pupils on their success as they receive their AS and A Level qualifications.

"They have worked extremely hard and we extend our appreciation to all teachers and school staff. Best wishes to all in the future.”

Nicola James, Headteacher of Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi said she was immensely proud of all the students.

"Their achievements this year are testament to their resilience, outstanding work ethic and determination to succeed," she said

"These excellent results follow two years of unprecedented disruption and uncertainty in education.

"Students and staff worked together diligently to overcome the challenges caused by the pandemic and although the return to external examinations this year was daunting, the results speak for themselves.

"I thank the staff for their commitment and dedication to providing the best teaching and learning experiences for our students and I thank all the parents for supporting their children and the school.

"We all delight in these richly deserved achievements, and we wish all our pupils the very best for their future.”

Gareth Evans, Acting Headteacher of Ysgol Bro Teifi, Llandysul said: “Ysgol Bro Teifi is proud of the deserved success of our Year 13 pupils in their A Level results this year.

"Following a difficult period for our pupils during the past few years, they are to be congratulated on how they rose to the challenge of sitting external examinations and it is pleasing to note that the vast majority will be continuing with their education in their first choice University.

"Others have secured apprenticeships in a variety of fields and others will be entering the world of work; we wish them well. We would like to express our thanks to the teachers, staff and parents for their support during the last two years in order to ensure the success of our pupils.

"Year 12 pupils also received a pleasing set of AS results and we look forward to welcoming them back to continue their final year of study with us at Ysgol Bro Teifi in September.”

Jane Wyn, Headteacher of Ysgol Bro Pedr, Lampeter, said: “Congratulations to all our pupils on their AS and A Level results. Following the challenges posed by the pandemic and the fact that this cohort had no experience of sitting external exams previously, we are especially proud of our pupils’ achievements this year.

"As a school, we would like to thank the pupils, the parents and the teachers for their continued help and support.

"We wish our Year 13 pupils every success as they now embark on the next chapter of their lives, be that at University, college or the world of work.”

Owain Jones, Headteacher of Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron: “Congratulations to the pupils of Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron on excellent A Level, BTEC and AS results.

"We are extremely proud of the students' work and efforts over the past 2, and indeed the last 7 years.

"The results reflect their commitment and hard work and the collaboration between pupils, staff, and parents and carers.

"Although long periods of the last two years have been very challenging for pupils, their hard work, tenacity and ambition are reflected in excellent and well-deserved results.

"We wish all our pupils the best whether they are studying a degree at university, following an apprenticeship or moving into the world of work.”
