A CONCLUSION to the long-running saga of the broken fence nobody wants to fix could be close at hand, Cardigan town councillors have learnt.

Residents of Bro Teifi have expressed alarm at the dilapidated state of a fence bordering the nearby Cardigan By-pass.

They have expressed fears that young children could easily access the busy A487 trunk road.

However, as the ownership of that stretch of fence has not been established, neither Ceredigion County Council, Barcud Housing Association nor the South Wales Trunk Road Agency have accepted responsibility.

Now Cardigan Town Council have enlisted the strong-armed help of Wynne Construction, who are currently carrying out extensive works at Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi.

The move follows an approach from the company requesting a list of local projects needing support through resources or volunteering.

Town clerk Eleri Maskell revealed discussions were underway for two projects to be completed by workers of Wynne Construction.

One of these was the Bro Teifi fence – the other was a broken fence at Greenland Meadows.

“Wynne Construction appear very positive so hopefully they will agree to these projects,” she told councillors.
