AN INDEPENDENT animal rescue centre near Llandysul have launched an appeal for more volunteers.
Alpet Poundies, who care for dogs from raided puppy farms as well as increasing numbers of animals with additional support needs, are gradually building their teams of volunteers.
“We now have over 20 volunteers each week improving the quality of life of the dogs unfortunate enough to be without loving homes,” said a spokesperson.
“The dogs have benefited by having more walks with different people and improved their socialising skills by walking with groups of other dogs.
“Dogs with physical needs have kind hands to examine, bathe, clip coats and nails making them more comfortable.
“Where people come together ideas blossom.
“Helen Dru Morgan, of Barker’s Dog Day Care and Home Boarding, near Ffostrasol, is hosting a Fun Dog Show on Saturday, April 23.
“Entry and parking are free and at only £1 entry per category it will be a fun-filled day for all dog lovers.”
